The forge ledger is less forgiving than a bad scouting report—upgrade the gear you will actually wear, not every bright new drop. I keep one weapon, armor set, and accessory line for the main march, then check the next tier’s stat gain before spending anything (a higher colour is not automatically a better fit).
For each piece, open the compare panel and replace only when the new item improves the stat your formation uses. Feed spare materials into the chosen piece in small batches, stopping before a costly rank-up until you have checked the full set bonus—many wasted ingots vanish at that last click.
Salvage unwanted gear before opening another chest, and bank the returned dust for event equipment rather than ordinary filler. I mark promising pieces with a lock immediately, especially boots and rings, because an accidental salvage is permanent—much like a marginal note I would rather not have to explain later.
