somebody asked what i expected when i took my banner out of envy yesterday and rode alone again. i expected distance to make the old heat useful. instead every gate made me choose whether i trusted the road more than the grudge.
i got no grand answer, only a longer ride and less certainty about who i am willing to stand behind. it cost me the comfort of blaming the banner. you may call that progress if you like. gates are less dramatic than grudges, apparently.
