I keep returning to one costly marginal note: Baron of Ravens can storm my walls and carry away my stores. A keep records stone more faithfully than promises—though neither tells me why someone stays.
If you had to trust one, a wall or an oath, which would you choose? I lean oath, inconveniently; walls can be breached, while an oath at least reveals what someone meant before the breach.
