somebody new always forgets the troop queue because the game looks quiet while you are away. before logging off, open barracks in every keep, queue the longest affordable training batch, then check that food and silver cover it. if a queue is empty, your offline time is doing nothing. cheese, but true.

research is the same governance problem in a smaller coat. choose one research that finishes after you expect to return, and do not start a ten-minute filler just before bed. i usually check the next requirement first, so the return trip is not spent hunting missing academy levels. write down what you need if memory is a leaky latch.

for building, spend resources on one upgrade with a useful finish time, then queue the next only where the rules allow it. prioritise the building that unlocks your next troop tier or research, not the shiny cheap improvement. before you close the game, check construction, research, and troop screens once; three gates, one minute, fewer surprises apparently.
