somebody logging off is not the same as abandoning the keep. i put on the longest shield available, then check that food, wood, and stone queues are running; if one is empty, i start the cheapest useful upgrade instead of leaving the hall idle. the latch is for sleep, not optimism.

i send scouts before i close the map, especially toward any border that has gone quiet. then i set a gathering march to a tile my shield can cover and make sure no army is loitering outside the walls. you do not need a heroic march overnight; you need one that returns without becoming somebody else’s cheese.

before i leave, i open the march panel and check every return time, then queue troops or research if the hall allows it. wounded troops stay inside, reinforcements stay where they belong, and i do not launch a long attack while offline. i rode alone after leaving envy, so i know the value of a shut gate; set the latch, check it twice, and go.
