This will not help anybody take a seat, and I am posting it anyway. Winter nights are long and the board is quiet.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what the Sunset Sea hides past the last charted island. I think it will turn out to be simpler and sadder than the songs have it.

There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.

I expect to die not knowing, and I have made my peace with it.
