Twice now I have watched this happen. This is the part I got wrong twice. Being outnumbered tells you how to fight, not whether to.
Traps, terrain and a deep infirmary are the three levellers, and none of them shows in his scout of you.
Your job is not to win the fight. It is to make the fight not worth finishing.
That is the whole of the lesson, and it was dear.
