Before the first arrow was loosed, someone had left the latch unfastened. I expected the cupboard to keep Niko’s lobster treats safe while I checked the western wall; instead Allie Blu nosed it open, stole the lot, and left crumbs under the map table. I counted Niko, Bianca, and Allie Blu, then blamed the nearest absent lord.

Keep every treat in a tin with a clasp, test the lid after closing it, and store the tin behind the latched pantry door, not on a shelf. I counted them again before bed; Niko went without his supper, and I had to replace the stolen treats.
