Thirty years in the field: I’ve been on both ends of what follows. This won’t help anybody take a seat, and I’m posting it anyway. Winter nights are long and the board is quiet.

What I am actually asking is whether the Lord of Light is one power or a hundred priests with one story. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.

The thing that unsettles me is that the people best placed to know went to considerable trouble to leave no record. Men do not do that over nothing.

Do it properly the first time. I didn’t.
