A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.
The question, put plainly: who Jon Snow's mother really was. I think the plain answer is the true one, and everybody has talked themselves past it.
Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.
I expect to die not knowing, and I have made my peace with it.
