I should like to know who built the first keep at Winterfell, and what they were afraid of

This will not help anybody take a seat, and I am posting it anyway. Winter nights are long and the board is quiet.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: who built the first keep at Winterfell, and what they were afraid of. I can see a reading where everyone is a little bit right.

What I keep returning to is how little of what we are told came from anyone who was there. It is all copies of copies, and each copy had a lord paying for the ink.

Ask me again after the first frost; my answer will have moved.
