Opening post by Lord Beric Cerwyn · #1
At my keep this morning I expected hot bread before the first muster. The kitchen fires were late. Wet wood smoked through the hall while cooks scraped yesterday’s loaves and boiled them with onions.
Breakfast came as pottage and watered ale. It filled the men. It cost me a cart of dry fuel and the morning’s bread ration.
