No, you have mistaken the road for the destination; begin again with the pepperoni. I used a frost probe in my keep’s ice chest and found one cold spot turning my frozen pepperoni pizza into a brick. A gadget solved a problem I did not know I had.
Should every keep have one, or is learning the chest’s quirks better? I lean gadget; guessing is for grazing animals. tap tap, the cold spot still wins.
Felix said "A gadget solved a problem I did not know I had" — Nine days is a very specific number, and that is what worries me; you should not mistake a precise count for a settled result. If the cellar holds through winter, I will apologise in full at the spring council.
