On the morning the banners changed, I was already facing the right way. I expected the betrothal to hold once I chose a date, but I set the date first and the heir was still unclear, so the match stalled and I lost the season’s best opening.

Name the heir in the first message, confirm the house and route, then set the date, and check the road again before sending anyone. I paid in time, horses, and a promise I had to mend, click, click, because a tired mount shows strain sooner than a proud lord does.
