My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.
The question, put plainly: whether the sellswords of the Free Cities are loyal to gold or to their own captain. I suspect the question is better than any answer on offer.
Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.
Pour another cup and tell me which of us is nearer.
