Opening post by Ser Harrold Wode · #1
on the western coast, I learned to judge an unfamiliar inn by the carts outside, not the painted sign; merchants can polish a promise, but a teamster wants supper and sleep. In the north, after a poor harvest left us counting every meal, I stopped trusting menus that brag and started watching what disappears first... If you reach a town hungry, ask for the stew everyone else has ordered, then sit where you can see the kitchen door. It is not a map, exactly, but it has led me wrong less often than a lord’s recommendation.
