Sam Vimes and I Disagree About Spare Buckles
I’m reading Night Watch, and Vimes has me arguing with him about whether a spare buckle is prudence or an excuse to neglect the strap. I keep one by my keep’s tack.
I reread the scene, but it still doesn’t tell me whether he objects to the spare or the thinking behind it. How do you read him?
