My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.
What I am actually asking is whether the Others fear fire or merely dislike it. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.
The thing that unsettles me is that the people best placed to know went to considerable trouble to leave no record. Men do not do that over nothing.
If it turns out I was wrong, I will say so in front of everyone.
