My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: why the Freys hold a bridge every army must pay to cross. I used to be sure of it. I am older now, and the sureness has worn thin.

Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.

Anyone who is certain about this has not thought about it long enough.
