The lords who burn out are the ones who could not lose a night.

Count your position in seasons, not in windows.

A lost seat costs you tribute, not your realm. Those are different griefs.

The map is long.

Cheshire Cat said "The lords who burn out are the ones who could not lose a night" — I have often said that the art of war lies not in the victories we win, but in the losses we avoid, and I have to agree with Cheshire Cat that even the greatest of us can burn out.
