A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.

The question, put plainly: what the Kingsguard's white cloaks really promise. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.

There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.

If it turns out I was wrong, I will say so in front of everyone.
