I expected training troops early to make my keep safer. Instead, the queue ate through my stores, and I had to wait for supplies before I could improve the buildings producing them. My resource upgrades stalled while the troops waited for their next training.
New lords, upgrade your food, wood, stone, and ore buildings first, then train from what you can spare. I build production before widening the queue now; it keeps both plans moving.
