I have heard the old kings kept hidden heirs for a day when the crown passed to the wrong hands. I doubt it; people can claim a secret bloodline long after the witnesses are gone, and nobody can prove the claim either way. Readers, what record would survive that kind of concealment?

Two days ago I took my banner out of [SITH] and rode alone again. I expected the road to feel simpler; instead, I was alone under my own colors, and it cost me the shelter of a shared banner.
