Right — this is the good one. My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: why the Wall was really built, and against what. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.

Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.

Tell me I am wrong! Genuinely, tell me.
