Let us begin with the number everyone has repeated incorrectly, new lord: put your spare coins into Keep upgrades first, then train troops. Build the foundation before filling it; a full barracks cannot fix a keep you neglected.
Would you rather grow your keep or your army first? There is no clean answer, but I lean keep upgrades, because the stronger base keeps paying after today’s troop bill.
