Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.
Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether Bran sees the past or changes it. The loudest voices on it are the ones with the least to go on.
Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.
Ask me again after the first frost; my answer will have moved.
