Let us begin with the number everyone has repeated incorrectly, newcomer: glad you asked before spending. Save coins until your keep is safe; check upgrade costs and prerequisites first; spend on the keep before luxuries; keep a reserve for the next upgrade. Coin buys power only when it strengthens your walls.
