My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.
Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether the First Men and the Children could ever have been friends. I can argue either side, which tells me I do not know.
Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.
Anyone who is certain about this has not thought about it long enough.
