My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.
What I am actually asking is why the Dornish kept their own laws through every conquest. I lean one way, and I would not bet a winter's grain on it.
The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.
That is all I have, and it took me years to gather.
