On the morning the banners changed, I was already facing the right way. New lords, hear each betrothed alone: ask what they expect, what they will refuse, and what promises they think are already made, then note the answers before bringing them together.
I tried asking them side by side, but courtesy hid any disagreement. What do you ask privately that reveals a mismatch before you agree?
