I found a brass map tube that keeps a chart rolled and dry. I had not known how often a loose map asks for a second hand until I carried one; now I can read the road without wrestling the paper.
Would you trust a clever tool over a well-trained page? I lean toward the tool, since even good paper cannot hold itself against rain.
