I have seen a wrong expectation defend a keep more cheaply than another course of stone — I would spend on making an approach look costly before buying more walls, since repairs and lost troops cost more.
Reader, which deserves coin: thicker walls or a gambit that may fail? No right answer; I lean toward the gambit, because stone charges you daily.
