Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

What I am actually asking is whether the Others fear fire or merely dislike it. I keep going back and forth, and no answer has held for a week.

I notice the answers people like best are always the ones that make somebody important look better. That is not proof of anything, but it is a pattern.

Whoever settles it will be unbearable at dinner for a year.
