A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.
Strip the songs away and it comes to this: who poisoned Joffrey, and who let it happen. I can see a reading where everyone is a little bit right.
There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.
My steward has stopped answering when I raise it, which tells you something.
