I should like to know what the Unsullied are loyal to when nobody is paying them

A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what the Unsullied are loyal to when nobody is paying them. I think the plain answer is the true one, and everybody has talked themselves past it.

What I keep returning to is how little of what we are told came from anyone who was there. It is all copies of copies, and each copy had a lord paying for the ink.

I expect to die not knowing, and I have made my peace with it.
