How it works

Six questions, and every one of them is about you rather than about the programme. Where you came in. The stretch that nearly finished you off. The sort of episode you would still stand up for in an argument. The gap that never quite closed. How you actually watched it — appointment television, or four in a row on a laptop with the lights off. And where the whole thing sits with you now. Answer them and the page assembles a card in your own terms and puts it straight into the address bar, so the card has a link of its own before you have decided whether to send it to anybody.

Nothing is submitted anywhere. Your six answers become seven characters on the end of the URL, plus your year if you gave one, and there is nowhere else for them to go: no account to make, no box to tick, no request leaving this page in either direction. Close the tab and the card is gone unless you copied the link, which is the entire reason the link exists.

Why the page will not tell you when the run started

Because it does not know, and a fan page that guesses at dates is a fan page that is wrong in public. This one holds no first-episode date, no last-episode date, no season count and no episode count, and it never asks you to pick a year off a list it made up. If you want a year on your card you type it into the last box yourself, and the card prints exactly the four digits you handed it. That is the only number anywhere on this page that came from outside the code, and it came from you.

The same discipline runs through the questions. "The stretch that almost ended it" is not a numbered season, because it is not the same season for any two people and this page has no business deciding whose answer is the correct one. "The kind of episode you would defend" is a shape — the funny one, the small one, the one that breaks its own format — rather than a title, because arguing about kinds is a better evening than being handed somebody's list.

What comes out of it

A name for your run, built out of where you came in and where you have ended up. Thirty-six of those, before the other four questions have said a word.
Four paragraphs about your own viewing — the arrival, the wobble, the thing you defend and the thing you miss.
Your six answers read back in order, which is the recap part, and your year beside them if you gave one.
Four lines your own card would open on: not moments out of anybody's programme, but moments out of the way you watched it.
A link that reopens the whole card on somebody else's screen exactly as you left it, with nothing stored at either end.

Recaps, and who they are usually about

A long-running show has to recap itself. It cannot assume that the person watching tonight was also watching four years ago, so it keeps stopping to catch that person up. What no show has ever done is recap the person on the sofa — who has also been at this for years, and who has an arrival, a wobble, a stretch they defend and an absence of their own, none of which anybody has ever cut together and set to anything.

This page is that inversion and nothing else. It reproduces no footage, no music, no caption, no dialogue and no episode summary; it does not borrow a screen title for its own; and there is nothing here from the programme itself except its name in the notice below. Everything you read on your card was written for this page about a viewer, not lifted from a work about hunters.
