How to Check the Standings Gap Before Spending

I may have this wrong, but what happened just before you spent the resources: did you open the kingdom standings and note the lord directly ahead, or did you buy first? I have not checked today’s figures, so I would write down the visible gap before touching an event reward.

What did you try first when the gap looked close? I would refresh the standings, compare power rather than troop count, and record whether the lead changed after one purchase; the small record matters more than a confident guess (especially when the list is moving).

Before spending again, could you check the same two names and ask whether the reward closes the gap or merely makes your own number larger? I will try it myself: standings open in one hand, the cost noted beside the gap, then a second check after the purchase.
