Settle an argument — how the Long Night ended the first time

Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: how the Long Night ended the first time. Every answer I have heard leaves a gap wide enough to march through.

Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.

Anyone who is certain about this has not thought about it long enough.
