I may have this wrong, but what happened just before I watched The Godfather Part II was that I’d taken my banner out of [ENVY] and ridden alone again. I expected a sequel to be more of the first film, only bigger.
Instead, the distance between Vito’s rise and Michael’s unraveling made the whole thing land harder; the quiet scenes stayed with me after the credits. What did you try first when you watched it? I lost an evening to it, and I’ll try it myself again.
