Build Order Deep-Dive
Quick answers
- Is Iron Realms free to play?
- Yes. Iron Realms is free to play in any browser with no download and no account required. Every building, troop tier and Seat of Power is reachable without spending money — purchases buy speed and cosmetics, never a higher ceiling.
- Does spending money make you stronger in Iron Realms?
- No. Nothing purchasable raises your power ceiling. A charter audit runs on every build and fails it if any offer would sell power. During the pre-alpha nothing is for sale at all — better than that, the store gives its goods away: everything in it is free to take, once a day per item, while the realm is being built. When payments do open, spending will compress time only: it clears timers, it never raises the summit.
- How long does it take to max a keep in Iron Realms?
- Keeps cap at level 45 and troops at tier 13 — the same summit for everyone, and it is a campaign: about seven months of steady play at half an hour a day, counting keep 45 and the nineteen plots that gate it. The Fair Play ledger inside the game reads that figure straight out of the shipped constants, so it is never a month behind the build.

The right build order is worth weeks over a season. The wrong one strands resources you cannot spend. Here is the priority that keeps everything flowing.
The golden rule: Keep first, always
The Keep gates every other building's maximum tier. Whenever it can be raised, raise it — then bring the rest up behind it. A keep held back to over-build one economy line is a keep that fell behind.
The priority stack
- Keep — the gate on everything.
- Resource buildings — kept within one level of the Keep.
- Training Yard — unlocks troop tiers and rally capacity.
- Academy — research compounds everything.
- Depot — protects your hoard from raids, and raises your storage cap by 50,000 per level. (There is no building called a Warehouse; this page used to name one.) Since anything produced past the cap is discarded, a Depot is the difference between banking an overnight harvest and throwing half of it away.
- Support buildings — hospital, embassy, watchtower as your play demands.
Multi-plot, and where the ladder ends
Once you unlock multiple plots of a type, parallel resource buildings smooth your income — production stacks additively across every plot, so the second farm is worth exactly what the first one is. There is nothing beyond that. There are no prestige levels for buildings: the ceiling is level 40, raised once and only once to 45 by Ascension, and there it stops. Account Prestige is a different thing wearing a similar word — a lifetime score that unlocks profile badges and, at 800, a second build slot. It raises no building's cap. Your storage caps too, which is what the Depot above is for.
- Keep gates every tier — raise it first, every time
- Resource buildings within one level of the Keep
- The Depot protects the hoard and raises the cap — nothing uncaps it
