The Chamber Ladder
Quick answers
- Is Iron Realms free to play?
- Yes. Iron Realms is free to play in any browser with no download and no account required. Every building, troop tier and Seat of Power is reachable without spending money — purchases buy speed and cosmetics, never a higher ceiling.
- Does spending money make you stronger in Iron Realms?
- No. Nothing purchasable raises your power ceiling. A charter audit runs on every build and fails it if any offer would sell power. During the pre-alpha nothing is for sale at all — the store opens for browsing and refuses every purchase. When payments do open, spending will compress time only: it clears timers, it never raises the summit.
- How long does it take to max a keep in Iron Realms?
- Keeps cap at level 45 and troops at tier 13 — the same summit for everyone, and it is a campaign of many months at half an hour a day. We are not quoting a month count right now: the 2026 economy rebalance moved production, training and research costs, and the Fair Play ledger inside the game reads the current figures straight out of the shipped constants.

Iron Realms holds well over thirty systems. You do not meet them all at once — they open in bands keyed to your Keep level, and this is the whole table.
Why it is staged at all
A new lord arriving to thirty-five chambers on their first minute opens none of them twice. Two rules keep the staging from becoming a wall: a locked chamber always names the level that opens it (a goal, not a refusal), and nothing you need in order to understand or trust the game is ever gated. The Store, the Fair Play Ledger, Settings, Credits and the Founding are open from level 1 on principle — hiding the fairness ledger from someone deciding whether to trust the game would be indefensible.
The table
| Keep | Opens |
|---|---|
| 1 | Keep management · Quests · Gathering · Court · Ravens · Chat · Store · Fair Play Ledger · Settings · Credits · The Founding |
| 2 | Hunting · The Bag |
| 3 | 🎖️ Hall of Heroes · 🪑 War Council · Materials · Pastimes |
| 4 | Research · The Forge |
| 5 | Seats of Power |
| 6 | Lord Profile · Bannermen · Alliance research · 👑 The King's Court |
| 8 | Events & the calendar |
| 9 | Wardrobe |
| 10 | Achievements |
| 12 | Talents · 🏵️ The Court of Notables |
| 14 | High Heart |
| 15 | The Shrine |
| 18 | The Long Night |
| 20 | Sieges |
| 21 | The siege table |
The dock is never staged: Keep, Westeros, War, Marches, Dragons, Realm, Alliance and Council are the core loop and are always there.
How this maps onto a week
The ladder used to top out at Keep 14 — about five hours of cumulative build time — so a lord who queued nothing but the Keep opened every gated chamber in the game before their first session ended, and the rest of the week had nothing left to reveal. It now runs to Keep 21. On the live curve that is roughly: everything through Keep 6 inside your first session, the Keep 8–12 band across days two and three, Keep 18 somewhere around days three to five, and Keep 20–21 at the edge of a strong first week.
Three chambers that are easy to confuse
Three separate features used to answer to "council". They are now three doors, three glyphs and three vocabularies:
- 🎖️ Hall of Heroes (Keep 3) — the roster. Who is sworn to you, what they cost in renown, and how they drill and ascend.
- 🪑 War Council (Keep 3) — the four offices your own commanders sit for an always-on empire buff. One seat from the start; the rest at Keep 6, 14 and 22.
- 🏵️ The Court of Notables (Keep 12) — famed legends of the realm, seated permanently for a boon apiece, bought with resources. A late sink; it opens when a hoard can plausibly bear it.
- 👑 The King's Court (Keep 6) — the five crown offices a King bestows on real lords. Everyone can read who holds what and whether they hold one themselves; only whoever sits the Iron Throne can give them.
