Alliance Name Generator

Names for the largest thing a player can belong to: a coalition of guilds, a federation of kingdoms, a bloc that signs treaties and breaks them. Twelve at a time, and the link you copy shows everyone else the same twelve.

An alliance is not a bigger guild. A guild is people who like each other; an alliance is guilds that have agreed not to fight, which is a different relationship and wants a different name. The tell is whose mouth the name has to sit in: a guild name is said by its own members, and an alliance name is said by the people it is negotiating with.

That single fact rules out most of what a naming generator will hand you. "The Bloodsoaked Murder Legion" is a fine guild name and an unusable alliance name, because the first thing an alliance does is ask three other groups to sign something, and nobody signs anything with a fourteen-year-old.

The four shapes that survive a diplomacy channel

Notice what is missing: no "Empire", no "Imperium", no invented proper nouns. Every body word this tool uses is a real word for a real political body — accord, bloc, coalition, compact, concord, confederacy, consortium, covenant, directorate, federation, league, pact, protectorate. They carry two thousand years of implication for free, and an invented one carries none.

The war-report test

Before you commit, write the sentence your enemies will write: "Name took the eastern crossing at 04:00 and held it for six hours." If the name makes that sentence read like a news report, it works. If it makes it read like a joke, you have a guild name.

Then write the diplomatic version: "Name has agreed a non-aggression pact with other name." A name that cannot appear in that sentence with a straight face will get shortened by everyone else to something you did not choose, which is how alliances end up known by their initials.

Length is a tax you pay every day

Alliance names appear in places you do not control: a roster column, a map label, a battle summary, a recruitment post. Anything past about twenty characters gets truncated somewhere, and the truncation is never where you would have cut it. Three words is comfortable; four is the ceiling. If the fourth word is "of", you have two words and a preposition, which is fine — The Compact of Frostmere reads as three because the eye skips the joint.

Most strategy games also want a short tag beside the name. If yours does, run the shortlist through the clan tag generator, which cuts any name to two, three, four or five uppercase characters and shows you both of the sensible ways to do it.

Where these words come from

The place names in the "of somewhere" pattern are built from the same morphemes as this site's castle name generator — a set that the build refuses to ship unless it can spell every seat the strategy game's nine Great Houses actually hold. The beasts are those nine houses' own banners, read out of the game's data rather than retyped. Neither of those is decoration: it is what stops a name generator producing words that sound like four different worlds in the same twelve results.

Why the link matters more than the button

Naming a group is never one person's decision. The twelve above are a pure function of one number, and that number is in the address bar — so the link you copy opens the same twelve for everybody you send it to, and the argument can be about the names rather than about which names each of you is looking at. Roll again and the link changes with it. The copy and download buttons hand you the same list as plain text for a pinned message or a document.

Nothing here is uploaded, stored or counted. There is no account, no server behind this page, and no analytics on it — which is also why a shortlist cannot be saved for you between visits. Take the file.

Can I use these alliance names?

Yes — for anything, including commercial work, with no permission and no credit required. Short strings like a name or a two-word motto are not the kind of thing anyone can own, and the crest you compose is your composition, not ours. Take it to a novel, a tabletop campaign, a stream overlay, a band, a boat, a business card.

We ask for exactly nothing in return: no account, no email, no sign-up, no watermark. Nothing you type or click here is sent anywhere — every one of these tools runs entirely inside your own browser, so there is no server that could keep your design even if it wanted to. If you want to tell somebody where it came from, a link back is kind, but it is not a condition.

The rest of the kit

guild names · clan names & tags · team names · war cries & mottoes — all free, all instant, all working with the network switched off. The naming index lists the lot.

Once the name exists it needs a picture: the Discord server icon generator and the profile picture maker both export a square 512 px PNG designed to survive the circular crop, and the coat of arms forge will draw the full crest if you want one for a banner.

Iron Realms is an original work of fantasy strategy. “Iron Realms” is a working project name, not necessarily the game’s final title. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other game or franchise. The game's own lore, names, and artwork are original or used under CC0/CC-BY/OFL licences (see the in-game Credits). The community section also hosts unofficial fan tributes — quizzes and diversions made for fun, not part of the game — which reference other fictional worlds under their own labels; those are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to their respective rights holders. Pre-alpha, and built in public. Nothing is for sale. No purchases are available, no payment is accepted, and no money is taken. Any prices named anywhere on this site describe the intended model only, and the game will not accept payment until it is out of pre-alpha. Iron Realms is an early build under active development: features, balance, prices and the game's holdings and systems are conceptual, and may change, move or disappear between visits. Progress may be reset while the realm is being built. Treat anything you read here as a work in progress rather than a promise.
